'Silent E' could be your rap name.

Hey - how long is the default set on the time allowed to delete a post? Could we maybe lengthen that a bit?

been busy setting up things here. WIll start looking at options again next week.
123flashchat hosted option is still on the table. $100 a year, but it's a pretty nice interface.

100 a year sucks... :( It would be OK if we have at least 10 people committed to chipping in...

Maybe post a poll about it? Something like "How much would you commit to chipping in per year for the chat feature?" And choices of $0, $2, $5, $10, and 'more than $10' and then see how many vote for what amounts, and if we get close enough to 100 (which we might) then it's worth it.

Just an idea anyway... at least we'll have a clue about how people feel about it; there aren't that many people who chat, ya know...

well if we went with that option, I could personally just pay the $100 a year, it's no big deal to me. devere has also offered to pay any differences too, but I'd rather he didn't have to. Anyone chipping in would be nice, but not necessary. I'd of course rather have a one shot license fee though.

I searched but I think no one has mentioned it yet; a spell check utility would be nice.

:D

just make the switch mang! FF checks your fields AS YOU TYPE. you don't even need to take the extra step of spell checking when your done. then just right click on a misspelled word and the corrected possibilities are already there.

it's a life saver for me, cuz i sux at da' spellin. i needed it for three words in the first paragraph alone!

I.e. on the old board it was an "OR" (i.e. the rule was "mark forum read if ANY of the new threads were read"), but here it's "AND" (i.e. the rule is "mark forum read if ALL of the new threads were read")

Here's the "test sequence":
  • Wait until more than one unread thread appears in a forum.
  • Enter the forum and click on one of the unread threads (the orange box or the title, doesn't matter).
  • Go back to the forum and reload the page.
Results: on the old site, the forum is marked as 'read'; here, the forum remains as 'unread'.

Hope that makes more sense...

ahh I got you. you want the OR functionality... hm... not sure how to change that.

OK, here's an alternative to that request (yes, it is that important to me! :P :)):

Make the 'Mark topics read' link(s) at the top-right of each forum (which link to viewforum.php?f=14&mark=topics, where f=... is the forum ID) redirect straight to the main board index, instead of (after the annoying delay) returning back to the same forum. Think about it, why would anyone ever want to mark all topics in a forum as 'read' and still return to the same forum?!

That would completely solve the problem I tried to address in that earlier request, and the change to the viewforum.php should be trivial -- find the place where it processes the 'mark=topics' parameter and change the redirect to go to the board index instead of that same forum. Should be one place...

This will save bandwidth and time for anyone who uses or will ever use the 'mark topics read' feature.
(And, I will be in your debt for the rest of my days... ;D)

Thanks
