WE ARE MOVING TO RUMSOAKEDFIST.ORG

FYI everyone, we will be redirecting rumsoakedfist.com to rumsoakedfist.org sometime in the next few days. This is a notification in case your bookmarks become broken, which we will try to avoid.

We plan to file for NPO status at some point, and since we are not for profit, this is the first logical step to take.

Can we make .com redirect to .org?
The main site will be .org and will be registered as such (as NPO), but why break the existing links, if .com ALWAYS auto-redirects to .org anyway?

Don't know much about this stuff, but this at least seems to make sense... :-/ No?

yes, we will be redirecting all the other rumsoakedfist domains to .org. and we should be able to do it without breaking bookmarks/links, according to uncarved.

Awesome; thanks. I guess I misread the first post as "rsf.com will be REPLACED with rsf.org"... (i.e. .com will be no more, only .org) Which as I see now is NOT what it says... :-[ :-X

sweet, looks like it all works.

members: please let us know if you find any problems/discrepancies/your bookmarks don't work/etc.

my brief tests seem to show that all old links to rsf.com now direct to the same address at rsf.org.

Hmm... Session cookies don't seem to be saved anymore... :'(
I.e. the (very useful) "Log me on automatically each visit" option when you log in doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Looked at the cookies (in FF) -- have 4 for .com:
- phpbb3_n5se5_sid (session ID)
- phpbb3_n5se5_k (?? value looks like it might be some sort of encryption key, but not sure)
- phpbb3_n5se5_u (User ID)
- style_cookie

But only one for .org, the "style_cookie" one.

Just FYI.

Are you talking about IRS 501(c)(3)? It really matters whether the domain name is .com or .org?

It's a conspiracy!

503c3 status has become very difficult to get. anything fishy, like a .com domain that is supposed to be a .org can slow the application process. ime anyway.

LOL, but you do lose your First Amendment rights when you get 501c3. You guys know that, right? You're not allowed political speech after you're tax exempt.
