sorry to hear about your teacher. May he ascend to the realms of the great masters in the sky.

As for stroke....from a Chinese medicine perspective, it was mentioned in class last semester that Liver Qi rising up to heavy is a cause of this. Nothing else was said, it was very brief when discussing liver zhang organ.

Now that shifu is gone, my teacher Nitzan and I were discussing the possibility of releasing very large amount of footage which we wouldn't have while he was alive. Nitzan is not yet sure how much and what we are going to put out publicly, but I saw he had already posted three new videos:

Pigua's Black Tiger Whip:

The old version of the miao dao er lu (I practice the new one). Shown very 'casually' as it was intended for a student to remember the movements.

Jingang Bashi Cotton Palm - a beginners form.

Jonathan, I understand that it may be a bit early to bring this up, but do you think you and/or Nitzan may eventually release some footage of Master Zhou's xingyi?

Wow, tough question. I don't know. I wouldn't mind. Nitzan has these videos. He has been uploading quite a few over the last few days... The Xing Yi we still teach... At least I do. What I really want to upload is all the footage from his Li style Taiji and the many associated nei gong stuff from that system.

Sorry for your loss Jonathan.
Stroke is a terrible thing, I have seen it first hand in my family.
It's nice that there is video footage to remember him by.
Keep training and honor his memory.

Johnathan Blue bro- thank you for the videos.

just a share on the severity of strokes...

We had a class today 1/31/2015 where we talked more about stoke, and I feel it is a good idea that people heed the warning about stokes having severe internal causes:

Boxers.... are prone to stroke, boxing causes brain damage, bruises, and other types of contusions. This is a type of blood stasis. The Chinese character for this is 2 part: one part 'illness', and second part 'free flow'.

There is also a type of 'internal wind" disease. Tremors, tics, severe dizziness, vertigo, numbness, convulsions, and even unconsciousness that result. It is associated with a Liver dis-harmony.

In studies done on elderly people, most had a tendency and symptoms of "fire" in Chinese medicine. Fire symptoms are a rise in excessive heat and blood to the head that affects the mind/brain, it injures the blood and heart, and can lead to stroke. The Chinese character for "Fire" has the character for fire 2x to distinguish it from normal heat so it is excessive.

This means it is of utmost importance to: control anger, control drinking alcohol, exercise right to promote the free flow of blood, disperse internal "wind" , and promote liver harmony (a Chinese medicine practitioner can help with acupuncture and herbs), be aware of internal "fire", nourish yin, find peace, and reduce as much stress as possible in your life. Most importantly get checked out by a doctor to see if you are at risk of a stroke and follow a plan of prevention.
