I am wondering how the 1000 times a day go. It started by the end of Jan. The 60th day mark is tough to cross for the 100 days training.

I decide to do 200 Pi, 200 Tsuan, 200 Beng, 200 Pao, and 200 Heng. I also add in 200 XingYi dragon, 200 foot sweep, and 200 front cut. That will be about 1 hour and 20 minutes workout.

The

- XingYi dragon can add in a front heel kick movement.
- foot sweep can add in a leg forward movement.
- front cut can add in a leg backward movement.

This way the leg training and single leg balance are also included. I think I'll get better result from this package instead.

It is a nice package, more all-rounded. I saw people doing 250 low stance XingYi Dragon for 100 days, and hurt their knees as the hip is not opened and twisted enough to enable the butt to sit on the back leg.

You inspire me to want to add 1000 5 elements with nine palaces step on the daily routine. Thank You. Again, the excuse is how to find time on top of the 1 hour Shoalin Neigong set and 30 mins main form.

any rest days in between?

I have done it everyday. Now I just do it every other day. I don't have rest days. I do 3 miles running and XingYi 5 elements during my resting days. My regular training days are much harder than just running and solo drills. The day that I don't have to deal with weight equipments (such as heavy bag, throwing bag, throwing KB, single head, double heads, bench pressing, weight pulley, cane bundle training, bricks twisting, square bag throwing, pole hanging, belt cracking, ...), I consider those day are my rest days.

Wow.... What a training schedule. A professional vs amateur training, and I never do weight.

劈拳上躜之时吸气,收小腹,足三阴之气上而聚于中脘,后足蹬劲,顶头竖项,调动督脉沿夹脊直达百会。肺气自中焦直出中府云门。拳变掌向下一翻一落同时呼气,则肺气自云门沿膊里下达于少商、商阳,充于掌指。上之气沿任脉下于丹 田,足三阳之气下于涌泉。发劲时,随着掌之翻落,双腿向下微蹲同时前掌向前一搓,肩井穴向前一松劲自出.

Weight training in Shuaijiao is different from dead lifting.
There are many movements involving coiling and turining as good as Longxing, even better.

Wang Xiangzhai added Xianglong and Fu Huzhuang 降龍 and 伏虎, these two are from Shuajiao incooperated into his ZZ.

练习拳术,不可自专自用而固执不通,如专求力,则凝滞不灵;专求重,则沉重不活;专求气,则拘泥不通;专求轻浮,则神意涣散。要而言之,身外形顺者,无形中自增力气;身内中和者,无形中自生灵气。如练至功深圆满之时,凝神于丹田,则身重于泰山;化神成虚空,则身轻如鹅羽,所以练习不可固执一端也。果得其妙道,也是若有若无,若实若虚,勿忘勿助之意,不免而中,不思而得,从容中道,无形中而生,诚神奇也。

to my understanding LHBF Li Dong Feng (5-Word Song) and Old Master Wang

Have you done XingYi Pi Chuan 1000 times non-stop? Please share your experience here.


possibly but i never counted. done slowly is best, done quickly is difficult. i think combining fists / linking is more interesting, the motion of pi has an emphasis on a circular /vertical plane, it becomes much more interesting when combined with the horizontal and so on. Id prefer to do 500 standard pi and then 500 playing with variations, at this point i tend to learn as much doing things incorrectly as i do correctly.

Agree! I have tried the following sequence:

1. Pi
2. Tsuan
3. Heng
4. Beng
5. Bi Dan Shi
6. Pao
7. Tiger

I then repeat this 7 moves on my other side. It's much more fun to train this way.

Xing I works well in shadow boxing, it helps you understand which change will work under what circumstance. With out this knowledge the fists can get tangled in a fight.

For me, the standard sequence is:
1. Pi Quan/Zhang
2. Zuan Quan
3. Beng Quan/Zhang
4. Pao Quan/Zhang
5. Heng Quan
6. Linking set
7. Advance-Retreat Linking set
8. Dragon
9. Tiger
10. Single Palm Change
11. Double Palm Change
12. Sun Taijiquan Set (Most of the time I actually start with this).

If I have more time, I'll add some of my favorite animals, and the more advance linking sets of Xingyi (Ji Xing Si Ba, Ba Shi, Za Shi), following with the rest of the eight palms of Sun style BGZ.
