Ba Gua Quan - going deep, the eternal drill

So here it how it goes:

1. Open Yang Pole
2. Open Yin Pole
3. Connect the two via balancing the Five Forces they both generate
4. Connect with the Mind, what you really are
5. End of story…or the start of a new limitless journey

Training routine:

1. Eight Mother Palms
2. Progress to working with single Palms depending on change and your
what the art is asking you to do internally without you being aware of
3. Foundation work to make sure Qi is always grounded and prevent damaging the Earth (Spleen
and digestive system) due to its generating and balancing role in the entire Yin-Yang dynamics

How more Taoist this art can be?

Anyone else playing this game?

;)

Are you saying you do the top five by doing the bottom three? Or…?

I like it, except for keeping the Qi sunk permanently. At some point the chest is filled with it again.

Invest in loss to gain - lose everything to gain everything - maybe Yin pole opening first? Safety measure?

Being mentally stable is something different than having the Qi sunk.

This is what deep BGQ is all about. The rest are toppings.

I never said that. Bearing in mind the nature of our THINKING society and how ungrounded we have become (sitting in chairs, computers, smartphones, etc.), bringing the Qi down should become like a daily maintenance exercise.

Yes, Yin Pole first for sure as per my comment above.

very roughly speaking, I guess this board (like the entire world) has more TJQ practitioners than BGZ, but I think a lot of people would say they are both "Taoist" and "the same" (but a bit different).

Wonder what the "pure" TJQ people here say. BGZ seems "more interesting" to me in various ways and "complementary" in other ways.

..."2. Progress to working with single Palms depending on change and your

when circling, I guess O:)

difference btw. them :
TJ, as it is now, has no direct MA value, if you don`t have hard core training as a bacground,
BG opens quite new door at once, even if you don`t train to much before.

there is, of c., difference in energy generating,
but
it`s secondary,
I heard, that one day, they become one , anyway . :)

it looks like all the same old hippies to me relative to the judo/bjj/wrestling students.

"energy" seems primary, not secondary to me, and should be for everyone. useful in all "applications". when do we get to throw or strike or lock people? not often. when do we need "energy"? always and forever.

make note,
that I used word >generating< not gathering, storing or use.
In the house, you have 240V. of electrical current all the time,
and in the outlet, it make any difference,
what kind of energy is movin` the machine
for
spinning turbine 8-)

"old hippie" thing is a fruit of popularity TJ for health, and teaching forms only.
+
There is quite long road for connecting internal work with useful MA technique,
particularly, when you workin` with the "qi energy" only, :D

40 years ago >internal work< was just 1-10 % of my training time,
right now is exactly reversed,
so
I`m in hippie qi camp too :)

Ba gua or the eight trigrams came from the Book of Changes or Yi Jing, which has nothing to do with Taoism or Laozi. Just because some Taoist practice it does not mean it is from Taoism, and you can not Westernise Ba Gua Quan as well. The concept in Yi Jing is infinity not eternal. Ba Gua Quan is a system of martial arts with many changes, and Ba Gua Zhang is one of the routines in the system.

I'd say that nothing is a bit strong word to use there.

OTOH I'm not sure it matters that much for your practice. If it does, I think you have a very esoteric focus.
