There are literally hundreds of Beijingshitaijiquan forms and variations(of such) that it would make your head spin.

When I first started out in competition (45+years ago or so ;D ), the competitions forms were great but they got out of hand whereby if one did not do the 'cumpulsory' form (per the style i.e.Yang, Wu, Chen, or Sun)
you would be rated lower than one who followed the status quo (of known Beijing Institute form arrangement). I mentioned that at one tournament, I did Li style but since the judges were not familiar with the style. I was rated lower on X scale. I enjoyed doing the form but over the years, it did not mesh with me. Why learn Demon kungfu when demons no longer exist, at least so they tell me ;D

I realized that my mind could only remember so many forms so I quit doing the many and stuck to the few that I still practice for memory and training

ah yeah ok makes sense. this is some obscure thing my wife and her friend came across at the local gym they're doing maybe once a month with fellow "old people" for health/fun, so just made me curious. quick google came up pretty short with info. same with chatgpt iirc.

Everyone seems to want to make their own shorter forms these days - and they are getting shorter and shorter.

But if not, Cheng Man-ch'ing's short form was 37 steps - maybe this one? :D

yeah I thought maybe some odd miscount of 37 lol.

it is some arbitrary 36, though.

Second the comments that it may be a typo of CMC 37 form.
