Olympics Games Martial Arts

Anyone watch the opening ceremonies? what did you think? I thought it took alot of endurance for the performers to do the taijiquan and kung fu form along with running and making shapes with 2008 people coordinated at the same time. That was impressive. It was very Chen taijiquan-like but you could see other chinese martial arts styles as well. Also the drummers were awesome. fireworks spectacular!

There looked to be alot of flag bearers that were judo champs, taekwondo, boxers, and wrestlers.

Is there anywhere we can see streaming video of the judo, TKD, boxing, etc. competitions? It's really frustrating that that stuff never seems to get into the televised snippets. The focus of what little tv coverage there is, is always on basketball, etc. (with brief forays to cover the Women's Beach Volleyball matches, of course. ;) )

I was impressed by the show. I wish NBC would've given a little more close up coverage of the tai ji/wushu segment though. Sure, the giant circles were impressive... but I wanted to actually see what they were doing. The commentary annoyed me though.

Also, how awesome was the ballet/brush painting part? The ballet looked fruity, but it was cool they could paint while doing that.

I found the NBC site, too. It has all of the results so far and a schedule of the various events. I found the judo page and got caught up on what's happened so far (Ryoko Tani lost to a Romanian judoka in the Women's 48 kg). There are video clips and commentary, but just the "exciting" parts of the matches.

You can watch the full broadcast from both mats here (I watched live last night):
http://www.nbcolympics.com/judo/resultsandschedules/
click on the "Rewind" link and it should bring it up.

For judo videos of the competitions, visit http://www.judovision.org . Just select 2008 Olympics Beijing on the right "categories" menu.
