It's possible to upload Youtube videos and make them private so that only the youtube usernames you select can view them.

Anybody can participate. Just a few rules to follow:

Initially just list your youtube username in this thread.

Then members can:

1) Film a video.

2) Upload it to your channel, click the private button, then type in (or copy & paste) the usernames of the people who you want to see it.

Discussions can ensue in the comments section of the videos, but ultimately rather than describing it in words we could all be filming our replies and adding captions directly to our videos to point out the key points of a movement or application.

From Youtube under the 'Video Manager' section in your channel:

Private (only people you choose can view)
Enter an email address or YouTube username
Email invitations will be sent to new viewers upon saving changes.

About Private Sharing

Private means that only specific YouTube users that you choose can view the video, and they must be signed in to YouTube. You may only send a private video to 50 users.

Would you care to make a list of people/emails/accounts in the first post?

Maybe down the road there might be a need to have all the names listed in one place but for now it's good to be able to see the RSF member's profile, past posts, links to websites and what not.

Also another thing is preferably no one should have to post their email account if they have a youtube channel.

why do you want it to be private? couldn't people just use their existing youtube accounts and post their clips to your thread?

For people who have no qualms about posting their video clips online they have every right to post them in an appropriate thread in the Video Links section, the same way it's always been done, and the way it will always continue to be.

Note that there won't ever be any actual videos linked to or embedded in this thread.

If you have any material that you've been reluctant to film because you didn't really know who was going to be watching it, and you'd like the option to pick and choose amongst various RSF members, then this will be the place where you can find those usernames.

We're currently in the height of the Israeli winter, which means it's dark and raining all day long. I may train like that outside, but I can't drag other people to film me ^_^ Hopefully in a week or two I'll film this at the park. If not I might just give up and film it at home.

A secret is simply that that you don't know, privacy is simply a place to hide, I either case, in my book both situations leave room for deceit and self delusion and a place for honesty to escape unseen and unheard. I think the admins should give anyone who wants to take part, their walls.

This is a thread simply for those who want to try out DG's idea to post video clips of their own work on a private channel at Youtube--not a private subforum at RSF. Let people who are interested try it out. And for those who aren't interested--extend to the RSF members who are the simple courtesy of staying off of this thread.

Tom - not a private channel on YouTube - there's no such thing. What he's saying is post your videos on your own channel, but make them private and invite select people to view them.

This concept is an attempt to see who's behind the masks.

It's the best way I can think of to get the proposed concepts in the following posts to become a reality:

Subject: New private sub-section for internal power discussions

Simple Rule:
All memeber of this forum should post minimum of 20 mins video footage that in some small way represents their understanding and level of practice. So that we can all see where each other is comming from. Next people should support their post and opinions in threads with further video footage. This way we can minimize the confusion.
In an age when just about every mobile phone has a camera this is no big ask.

- If you are making some great claim about Santi or the like and you put up some clip of you doing Santi it will, by-in-large be quite obvious if you know what you are talking about.
- If you are an exponent of reality based martial art and train in the real deal, film it and show it, then we can see exactly what you mean, especially if your written posts come across unclearly to some of the "classically/traditionally" trained forum readers.
- If you have some great understanding of body mechnics and strucuture or some strong opinions on how power is expressed, film it so we can see and discuss what we have seen.

Subject: New private sub-section for internal power discussions

I say why doesn't Dan just put up a single short video of a demonstration of what he would describe as IP, or provide us with some examples of other people in videos demonstrating what he woud describe as IP and why this is so. If he puts up his own video then he can disallow comments on the uploaded site (youtube whatever) and let the forum guys say what they will, forum discussions fade into the past and the video itself will have no negative attachements on the source site (youtube) and can even be pulled down after a set time. At least then people will have a benchmark which will allow people unfamiliar with Dan's methods to begin a discussion on his terms, whether they agree with them or not.

I can't claim to know all the various reasons why only a handful of posters here have been willing to upload clips.

This will, hopefully, be the option that will get more members to make a video.

Video doesn't lie.

The better the skill shown in the video the more weight may be given to your posts in the forum and the more willing other members will be to show you their clips. You may even find yourself being asked for advice.

From now on it shouldn't be posted here when a video is sent or received. We may only want to share style specific material so not everyone is going to be seeing all the same clips.
Comments should be written on the video clip itself. Also note that you can address the user(s) in the video description that is sent along in the email.
