Makes perfect sense to me. I match them up because they're opposites, hence complementary. If you can throw a punch with full-body power and you can throw a perfectly isolated, non-commited arm punch, you should be able (with practice) to do everything in between. Then you can dial in the exact amount of commitment you require.
