Discussion on the three big Chinese internals, Yiquan, Bajiquan, Piguazhang and other similar styles.

Re-internalizing

So, I find myself coming back full circle, and have begun training (and teaching) Tai Chi again. I'm starting to remember how much I loved it. This should be a fun trip.

Are you going to imbue it with "aliveness"?

Naw, I'm just gonna do the damn form and push. I got good results from it before. Why fix what isn't broken?

I'm doing the same to compliment my BJJ.

Do you teach standing a well? I find that is the quickest route back to the mythical land of internal. I'm getting back to standing practice via san ti because I realize it's the most effective exercise for me.

Ya know, I haven't really thought about standing, at least not yet. I could though, I learned Wuji qigong from Fong Ha. Right now, I am relearning William CC Chen's long form and doing a lot of tui shou. That plus Judo 3 times a week keeps me pretty busy.

Maybe something for the future though, I used to enjoy standing, still got a solid root, too.

I didn't know William had a "long form," I thought he only added a few missing postures onto CMC's short form. How many postures do you count?

Master Chen's long form counts 128 postures, the short form counts 60.

OK, I learned his 60 movement form, I didn't know that he taught a long traditional form. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, if you know the short form, the long form is very easy. Mr. Chen has a dvd on the long form on his website if it's something you want to pick up.

No, that's OK H2O. I have learned 3 versions of the Yang long form already, I just didn't know that William also taught one.
