Nice stuff from everybody! Some of the other articles were interesting, too (Shaolin, etc.).

Jake - interesting about the dilongjing, have never had experience with that. About how many techniques does the whole canon consist of?

Basically what you see is what I know. Tim mentioned that Liang Ke Chuan had one of his top fighters show him once when Tim asked about it. There were only a handful of techniques. There are a couple more I did not include, but they are all basically variations on a theme. Essentially they had a technique for each "gate" (ie. front / back / side / opposite side).

Oh, sorry, missed the reply here - thanks, Jake, pretty interesting. Was a good article, I learned some new things!

Also interesting that Liang Kequan knew these techniques - I guess Liang was a Hebei xingyiquan guy, right? I thought the Dilongjing was just a Song style thing...

I have no clue how much of it is in the Song family. I have asked every Xing Yi guy I know about it, and Tim is the only one that knew it. He said he asked every XY teacher he trained with and Liang Laoshi was the only one that knew it.

I just read this. I'm not a fan of the mag but Jake's article is great! I never could understand what the "Earth Dragon Canon" meant in Tim and Dan's book. Jake explained it.

I was disapointed with the techniques that were shown. It looks like BJJ to me. I would have liked to see more CMA techniques. The only one I haven't seen in BJJ is the one where he grabs one calf and then sweeps the other leg close to the ground.

Well Bill you show the limit of your knowledge. The one where I grab his calf... would probably be the closest to any take down in BJJ. My teacher learned these from Liang Ke Chuan, who to the best of my knowledge, had no experience in BJJ.
