Master Yang Hai's new Web site

Postby xingyijuan on Thu Oct 16, 2008 8:48 am

Hello everyone,

I would like to invite you to visit Master Yang's new web site at www.internalstyle.com

It has many new features and info. I would press you to take a look at the Masters directory. Of course, it is still under construction so some of the features, as the on-line courses, are not yet available. Master Yang informs me that it will be finished in a couple of months.

So please, go take a look and use the comments feature at will.

Juan

It's a nice site, there's a lot of information in there. A few comments:

1. I was looking for the articles and I find that they're in the "Gallery section". That's kind of counter-intuitive. Maybe it would be better if that section was called "Media" or something.
2. In that same "Gallery" section, there's something called "Masters' Directory". I was expecting a list of teachers with contact information, but it's actually short biographies of CMA masters, most of whom passed away already. Shouldn't this be called "Masters' Bios" instead?
3. Maybe I'm too conservative, but I don't like the idea that anyone can comment on every single page on the site. But then I guess it makes sense in the context of online learning.
4. I see that you plan to make a French version of the site. If you need help with that I'd be happy to help. I study IMAs with a student of Yang's in Quebec City and I'm currently studying translation at université Laval.

That's all I can think of. To whoever created the site: good job!

I think that it is an excellent site, not just because its on my favorite subject, but it is an excellent site period. But if I compare it with other martial arts sites, I must say this is one of the very best I have seen. You have really done a great work, who ever made it. 5 out of 5 qi-blasts! ;D

Edit: Wow, I looked at the thread again and found out who made it :D -bow-

Nice site and good effort! There is a stupid troll already posting there, though...

Chinese characters would be nice (those in the lineage images are great, though). Would like to know more about Fu Shoubo and how he came to learn with both Cheng Youlong and Cheng Youxin (very different ages)!

I'm also interested in that. I'll send a message to Yang Laoshi with your requests.

"helllo james,
Yes, i saw it, it sounds good.
for the question mentioned in the last post, it is very normal: when both of
Cheng taught in Tianjin, anyone could learn from them, most of time. Fu
shoubo mostly learned from Cheng youlong. But he said he learned from Cheng
youxin as well. This is why i said that he learned from Cheng Youlong in the
lineage picture but mentioned that he learned from both of Cheng. there are
some other history reason..."

That is most of the explanations for the Cheng yx and yl thing.
I left the last bit out just because it was a personal message to me, so just don't be confused at the ... :D

For the characters: To Chinese charactuer parts:
it is hard since some system may not support chinese fonts, it will look bad if that happens.
In the lineage tree, it is easy because it is a jepg file, which chinese character is treated as image...
To other parts:
it will take a bit time to correct everything but i will try to find better solution.

Thanks, mix (and Mr. Yang)! (And no pressure to Mr. Yang, the site is quite good already as is!)

(Oh, a picture of Fu Shoubo would be nice :D The picture of Yang Qinglin is quite good, I can see the family resemblance quite clearly, actually! :) )
