satisfice - you mean sacrifice throws , i think
so
o soto gari / above /and mentioned ouch gari aren`t sacrifice throws in judo terminology, by any means.
You may go follow the throw, of course
but
in basic form you are not .

In judo sacrifice throws you don`t have any chance to regain balance /here you have to sacrifice yourself :)/

Beautiful.

He's never out of his base when he punches - and he like to punch on the step with timing like you see in XingYi and yi quan.

Is this similar? It does not necessarily go to the ground.

If striking (& potentially really hurting the opponent) is ok then the intention is to attack the throat or clavicle (note - illegal in mma). The throw is a nice addition.

Look at Renan Barao trying to punch Dillashaw when out of his base:

Depending on the "game" (throwing or punching) at this stage you are trying to "unbalance" the opponent then apply whichever is the strongest/best/opportune strategy at x moment. If one is falling forward, then either he hasn't practised enough or he is unable/incapable to use that opportunity to apply <something>!
