My long fist teacher is 88 years old now. Besides the daily Goji Berries drink, I believe his long fist training that emphasizes on body stretching in all directions makes a big difference.

Born 1927. He must be 88 now. Right?

You are right! Thanks for the correction. :)

IMO, the most important part of the old age training are:

- body stretching, and
- single leg balance.

My uncle, who is in his late 50s now, also learned long-fist from him when he was in 建國高中 decades ago.

Other than training, diet, lifestyle habits, and genetics are also major factors related to longevity. I believe that his teacher Han Chintang and some of his long-fist brothers didn't live to be as old as he is.

Agree! But I would add any form of moderate aerobic exercise
e.g. walking, light running, swimming etc.

"Shifu, can you please teach on injuries sustained due to martial arts? i heard this Master........ have problem with his..... due to........"

"Oh, this is bad, when you are young maybe your body system can take it, but as you age all system degenerate, go downslope."

" But Old Masters have very good gongli, .... after many years of practice right?"

" You know Master......?"

" Yes, i know, he has many students here is Singapore."

" Yes, when he was very old, 90+, he play some strokes with a young and strong student, Master.... wanted to expend force to sent back
the student. but the student also apply force. Master.... step back and fell back on the ground, after that he fell ill, cannot recover and passed
away.

Many years ago, i asked your Shi Gong about the same thing. He said when you grow old, you will slowly go weak, this is the natural Way.
We just try to teach people martial arts so that the knowledge can go on."

thinking back on what my teacher said reminded me of the old vid of Master Yip Man
practicing wingchun on a wooden-man-stake.
there was a pause there in the middle of his practice.
i feel sad when i saw that cos i think he was saying good bye to "something" in that pause.
