Being good at padwork doesn't mean you're good at boxing. It means you're good at padwork.

That's great for him, now what can he do?

What are his credentials, apart from being someone's disciple?

Do we accept it on faith that he's a good martial artist and worth listening to, or do we get to see some evidence?

I would imagine that he will do everything that's required of him to maintain the art Chen taijiquan.
And that's all he has to do. Anything else beyond that, I would suggest that you go ask him personally.

It is good that someone with the loyalty to Chen Bing is a disciple of same. Haters gonna' hate.
In truth, nothing else is needed, if da truf be told ;D

Solution: Either be a disciple when you pay da money or be so excellent that the money will come in.

What does this have to do with hate...?

You said he looks good, I said yeah he looks good at doing forms, what else can he do? It's not an unreasonable question, considering the context of Chen style.

Learn and practice what he loves? Stay strong and healthy throughout his life? Earn money by calling himself "master"?

This is why I like competitive fight sports - because "being a good martial artist / martial arts coach" is rarely conflated with "being a good businessman" or "being a good health practitioner".

Why is it so ludicrous to ask how well a martial artist can apply his martial arts...? This is a martial arts forum, and even his master shows applications.

If I made a post saying "hey guys, listen to this podcast with this master judoka" and he only showed uchikomi with rubber bands, hopefully someone would ask for a clip of him actually throwing someone...
