My good friend Itzik Cohen sensei have just released an exceptional book on the history of Okinawan Karate, unlike anything else written in English so far. For those with even a vague interest in Okinawan martial arts, this is a MUST for your martial arts library!! Author is 7th dan, Shito-ryu and Shorin-ryu Karate, with over 40 years experience.

You can get the book from any Amazon-affiliated website, such as below:
https://www.amazon.com/Karate-Uchina-Di-Okinawan-Exploration-Evolution/dp/1543256937/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1489489876&sr=8-2&keywords=karate+uchina-di

Here is a brief description:
"The book investigates the deep roots of Okinawan Karate and its gradual evolution and development prior to the 20th century, revealing important cross currents in the evolution of Okinawan Karate. Part 1 defines the background and the historical field in which Karate developed. Part 2 elaborates on the issues discussed in Part 1 and thoroughly investigates changes, trends and stages of progress that have been influential in bringing Karate into the 20th century."
