elbow form seems really interesting.

taiji writings always talk about elbow, but I never encounter any details.

From this past weekend. Frankie Edgar feints the right hand to set up left hook. Brian Ortega left elbow, then right uppercut for KO.

For those fighters that chamber their punches for more power, bridge with arms extended, etc., they might think twice about their entries.

A hardheaded Swede......I think the elbows of Taijiquan are more Intended to target he torso, but for sure elbow strikes to the head can be devastating

I don watch much UFC or any other fight sports events. The little I seen of Jon Jones fights I alway thought wow, on a technical variations basis it's in many ways XYQ applied

There are elbows all through the 108 and even more in the San shou forms

Yes, and I change my statement on "elbows mostly to the torso",that is just something I have been practicing lately

Actually i always learned that an elbow is done with the tip of the elbow. Most of the elbows shown, although hard, use more part of the upper or lower arm and as such do less damage. Still a formidable weapon

Feng does a Chen taiji elbow form, it's probably on the net someplace. It's on the tape he did with Gene Chen.

Learnt 8 elbow form with BN Park in Bagua, used tip and forearm. In Hsing Yi had a couple of strikes with tip, one straight down on the sternum which was pretty devastating

I'd rather call it "Feng taiji elbow form" ;)

We have a little elbow section just after the knee section in Grand Master Chocks fighting form
It is part of an overall form
I find elbow forms that only contain elbows to be a little limited in their scope
It is more about where the elbow fits in general play that matters

Well, I can see practicing specific elbow attacks; but, ime, most elbow attacks are the result of folding. Without even going into the jin thing, elbow is part of every tcc movement. Ironically, "fist under elbow" is the only tcc movement I can think of offhand that has elbow in its name.

Fwiw, I think the "Fair Lady" sequence has lots of elbowing opportunities. Anyway, a practitioner can figure and try out for himself where the obvious or hidden elbows can be found.
