If you can damage your opponent just by doing this, your opponent must be very old, weak, and sick.
Not slowly, but, as mentioned, if you express power in these exercises it is very easy to get hurt. I've seen broken wrists and hyperextended elbows, mainly from newer students getting a bit too aggro.
