Teacher B is the kind of teacher that I like.

A: Dear teacher! Do you teach self-defense in your school?
B: I don't teach self-defense. I teach how you force your opponent to defense himself.

The deadly art of Llap Goch-
Learn how to defeat your assailant before they even know of your existence!

Something like this. The opposite of self-defense.

I dunno, man. We kinda need hospital staff and other health care workers.

Some of us our fighty group worked in bars and stuff and some of the others worked as nurses and emt. One of our young fellas purposely got a job in a bar just for the experience.

I was talking about security and military not medicine

You guys crack me up -

"I have studied 20 years so now my skill is too dangerous to use"

Is that it?

So you let someone take your child - take your money - take your car?

I have had 3 teachers teach me how to propagate the conflict - John Wang / Luo DeXie / Jwing Ming Yang
Grateful to all 3

Aggression takes other forms than direct physical.

If you are referring to me
I did not say you shouldn’t use it
I just said putting yourself In those professions is not the best move
Percentages are not on your side

I am referring to the idea that MA should only be used in self defense.
sorry if it seemed to put down anyone's position or opinion.
Martial arts internet discussions for many years have the same message -
Now that I am black belt I have to obey a code and never use my skills except when life is threatened
Now that I am black belt I am a lethal weapon and I must never show aggression

It is silly when most Tai Chi practitioners have no hope even in self defense.
As John Wang tried to show the real skill is in the setup. 90% of those doing drills and forms
have no idea how to setup the posture or technique that they have practiced and perfected.
Unless the attacker throws a straight punch that ends 4 inches from your face and holds it there
they have no idea how to grasp the birds tail.
What if you are carjacked with an eight yr old in the back seat?
Or what if you see your eight year old being kidnapped in front of your house?
What if someone grabs your woman as you walk from the car to the restauramt?
What if someone demands your wallet?
Or something petty like someone steals your spare tire - you know they did it so you confront them
and they laugh at you and deny it.

Because you are a martial artist you know that aggression is wrong and you can get another tire. another wallet. another child?

Violence and aggression are rarely the correct response.
In the one percent of situations you can't avoid, you roll the dice and see how things turn out. Hopefully the training helps.

Obsessing over fighting and conflict and only training aggression forms a hammer in want of a nail. Fortunately we have plenty of outlets to keep it stimulated and stimulating.

You talk about your 3 teachers there it would be interesting to know how long and how much you trained with each
What you have written about GST shows little understanding of how tai chi is actually used

If they stand behind me, I fight to protect them. If they stand beside me, I fight to support them. If they stand against me, I fight to defeat them, quickly and decisively.

That said, always lead with love and compassion, but still master the throat strike, just in case they don't respond in kind. ;)

In such situations mentioned “Turn the other cheek” and by the way “ also hand them your coat” strategy can be good setup

Doc - and hope you are still doing music.

Wayne - sorry I have had this head cold making me miserable.

I shouldn't be like Xu and say bad things about Tai Chi guys.
Even if it is the truth. My GST comment was a reference back to RSF discussion you guys had about it.
Not my understanding of it youall's understanding of it.
Disclaimer - no specific individual.

I think you are asking how long spent with these guys?

John Wang Combat SC
Luo seminars
Jwing Ming Chin Na

Again sorry for bad attitude - I was thinking by the pool today that if there was a home invasion we would probably invite them
for some pichana that was on the grill and a cozumel and if they took the 85 inch TV it is prolly all they could carry - we have no cash.

Thanks for being so honest
Some here choose to make minor meetings and on line lessons into a big thing
You have had an interesting training path
Staying with one path gives a totally different view of things
Some here talk about arts they really have no understanding of
I see my best student once a week and after 50 years of training each week I show him things that have been revealed to me since our last meeting
He is not a fighter but a hard trainer that has more skills than when he started
