Power generation

In this video, he freezes his body and only moves his arm.

In this video, you cannot find even 1 move that he "freeze his body and only move his arm".

Can both be right at the same time? What's your opinion on this?

Can both be wrong at the same time
They are trying to demonstrate or develop different things
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

I guess what is wrong or right depends on how you look at things. Ip Chun has a clear imaginary opponent, he strikes the same point every time. XCW has no clear opponent, in every single attack, he seems to hit different places/targets. Vigorously shaking your body without controlling where you hit might not make as much impact against an opponent, or cerate as much damage, as a clean isolated arm movement, clearly supported by the centerline and whole structure, upon impact.

What looks strong might be weak and have limitations. What looks weak might hide real power. Sometimes you need to feel and experience something first hand, to really understand the end result of what you see.

CXW is using his spine (called 胸腰折疊 in Chen Taiji) to add 發力 FaLi into his strikes. He’s doing a lot of shoulder strikes and elbow strikes (in the strikes that don’t look like he’s hitting anything).

In Bagua we normally use our whole body to power strikes (both with adding 發力 FaLi and without it), but we also practice and use 快手 (fast hands), but it looks more like this at 1:06
One part moves, every part moves; One part stops, every part stops.

They are two different martial arts, so "right" is different because they are trying to do different things.

If the question is "is there one overriding best way to do punching"? Then I think the answer is it depends on the context. Even if you make all the variables really limited, like in a boxing ring with rules and gloves, then there is still an endless variety in punching techniques - all the top boxers seem to have their own individual way of doing everything.

TJQ is spherical, it’s a work in six directions, the advanced taijiquan player do not work in just one direction at a time, what’s in front is also behind…as well equally to the sides, not defined opponents but rather forces

Well just because you can only see one part moving doesn't mean there isn't a lot more involved.

As it turns out they're the same thing but like a hologram or like something from another dimension, it can intersect our space in different shapes.

I would say, that in a way, the two frames are 'exactly the same'. This doesn't make sense from the outside.

You are looking at apples and oranges here. The drills are working two completely different systems. You might as well be comparing punches and kicks.

I’ve done both drills, or in CXW, it's more of a demo.

Is the term "身法 - body method" important in CMA? During the high level of the praying mantis training, you suppose only can see the body movement and you won't see the arm movement anymore.

My understanding is power come from bottom and up. If you freeze your body and keep your knees locked, how can power pass through your low leg, reach to your upper leg, and then ...

When he punches, he has one leg forward and one leg backward. He steps in his leading leg, slides his back leg. His body moves in as one unit. He doesn't "freeze his body and lock his knees" when he punches.

A good friend of mine went to Chris’s wing chun gym when I was in high school .

Their power generation comes from something they called dynamic tension .
More about tensing and releasing, then stepping in and planting using body weight.
Their body hardening and toughing drills back in the day pretty tough

Only WC system uses the term "tension" All the 3 most famous CMA power generation systems Baji, Chen Taiji, and XingYi Liu He have never used this term.
