Yeah but he'd be a completely different fighter and people would know his game.

I think guys like Machida, Fedor and Sakuraba for that matter have an edge because they've mastered styles that most MMA plays haven't dealt with in comparison to bjj/muay thai/wrestling.

That little bit of surprise is enough to cost someone the match.

Anyway, that's why I like MMA because you can bring any art to into it and use it.

I'm looking forward to seeing a well rounded SC guy get up in there.

OK, just got around to watching this. Survey says: awesome. 8-)

Just out of curiosity, how many Japanese martial artists still practice their foot sweeps on a wooden post in the ground?

I am not japanese and I've only just begun Judo 2 weeks ago, but I still practice sweeps on a soft bark yet dense tree if that counts.

Sure, I practice them on some narrow tree trunks at the lake I go to.

That reminds me, if I ever move in on the ground floor again I'd like to see about putting up another makiwara.
