Hence my comment regarding most styles actually do recognise weaknesses (at least what I have seen of most styles) and therefore try to avoid these weaknesses being exploited etc. I certainly would never advocate solely cross training - you need to understand the art you are doing enough to recognise its weaknesses for a start! The other thing I would recommend is actually 'trying out' your style with something that is good in your area of weakness, to asses if it really is one, or simply a perceived problem.
