3 pillars to knife defence work.

Check,
Move,
strike,

all happen at the same time.

If you only 'check' then on the second beat you both have equal opportunity.
If you only 'move' then on the second beat you both have equal opportunity.
If you only 'hit' then you will be slashed or stabbed too ... lol

You do all three .. then you 'should' be able to not get too stabbed up and be able to knock out, damage or incapacitate, disarm or escape.

Hey Chris,

I remember your knife work looking quite effective. Do you still have that clip up somewhere?

while this is not what i was talking about, as you ca see i'm not off track

........................................

check out http://www.russianmartialart.com (Vladimir Vasiliev's site for his school)
check out http://www.systemamartialart.com (John Giduck's school)

Both of the above schools are members of the World Federation of Russian Martial Arts. The founders being Vlad Vasiliev, Mikhail Ryabko, and Oleg Taktarov with John Giduck being president of the organization (so expect a little bit of overlap in the information... Both are more sites for their respective schools than a site for the WFRMA as a whole)

I think I'll pass. This is the territory of lineage queens, which has nothing to do with combat efficacy, IMO.

I thought you were the one with the itch, I'm perfectly comfortable and have done fine thanks - whether it's with "venus" or in other venues. Always happy to share, though from past experience internet twats rarely are :)

hey ian,

have some somewhere, i will whack em on youtube again, nothing special though mate.

You gotta love how systema divides opinion where ever it is brought up!! lol ... the only way to really know is head to a seminar with Vlad or mikhail and get hands on with them directly.

Cheers
Chris

"well then you must feel good about yourself."

Not especially, just stating a simple fact.

"for the rest (twats and what not) everybody is a big shot on the net."

Which is exactly why we have an open door policy. Sorts out the genuine from the twats I find

You really should learn how to quote at least, because that simple web option is making you look bad in other areas as well.

One thing i have recently learnt about knives is that you are unlikely to see it coming...in western urban culture at least. I prefer the SAS clip - keep the knife away first, and hit the hell out of them as quick as you can! Little flowing punches are nice if you like scar tissue and blood loss.

;D ;D ;D ;D priceless...... no, all talk is when you do it on a forum, not all talk is when you show up and engage on a meaningful level. Like I said, you know where I am, or where any Systema guys are, in my experience they all have an open door policy. So what's stopping you? ;D ;D ;D

silly boy, you are a troll, and a nobody, with a internet chip on your shoulder.
treat yor fears, problems a different way.
stop roaring like a lion, you are no lion
i gave you some advice, want to fight, want to test or want to take a hold on your fears, go outside of your room, and fight,or go do some tornaments. do what ever you like , but please stop thinking you are a somebody, and people have to come to you..nobody is going to come to you...nobodycares about you.
you are a troll.
i do not like systema, if this bothers you and your fears, your problem not mine.
stop pestering me, and go fuck yourself. how is that for a responce.

"stop pestering me, and go fuck yourself. how is that for a responce."

;D ;D exactly as expected to be honest - very predictable, standard operating procedure - the usual attempt to twist things around, the attempt to patronise, to project your problems onto someone else and to try and be clever. Thing is you'll disappear from the forum shortly, then probably pop up with another name in a few months and do the whole thing again. It's an interesting modern phenomena, I wonder if psychologists will be studying it in a few years time?

PS sorry everyone else for the thread drift. We have some knife work clips up on our Youtube page http://uk.youtube.com/user/perten, hopefully they cover some of the points raised. For me it's probably the most challenging area of "everday" self defence

cheers

Rob
