The 抄(Chao) overhook and 圈(Quan) underhook are such an important principles and it should be part of the Taiji PH. There are many other important principles that should also be included in Taiji PH such as: 蓋(Gai) Cover Hands, 分(Fen) Separate hands, 掖(Ye) Hand clamping, 引(Yin) Guiding, 捧(Peng) Arm raising, 架(Jia) Elbow Locking, ...

John,
do you have illustrations of the techniques you're talking about ? Sounds very interesting.

TIA

- 圈(Quan) underhook - Circle your arm under your opponent's shoulder and then wrap on top his shoulder.
- 抄(Chao) overhook - Circle your arm over your opponent's shoulder and then wrap under his arm pit.
- 蓋(Gai) Cover Hands - one hand control your opponent's wrist, another hand cover on top of his elbow, with that elbow pointing at your opponent's chest.
- 分(Fen) Separate hands - both hands move circles (inside out or outside in) and deflect both of your opponent's arms.
- 掖(Ye) Hand clamping - put your opponent's arm in a temporary position so it won't cause any problem for your next move.
- 引(Yin) Guiding - guide your opponent's arm to a place that will be to your advantage.
- 捧(Peng) Arm raising - Use one hands and your chest surface to control one of your opponent's arms.
- 架(Jia) Elbow Locking - similar to Arm raising but your try to move your opponent's body in certain direction.

Since SC emphasis on the "butterfly hands", it's easier for SC to evolve from jacket to no jacket than for judo to evolve from Gi to no Gi.

Crow weep in the dark. Tide bellow in the north wind. How lonesome the world.
