Tyson did like to strike over the jab with that big right - great timing.

Thought i would see peoples ideas on how to deal with a Jab. Not necessarily in a 'sparring' situation...

Chris.. you know the real answer mate but...

my old old old (ok i was 9) boxing coach used to get the attacker to hold a pound note in his hand... the defenders job was to grab it before the attacker could touch it to his rear hand... whoever scored more during the 5 x 3 minutes of j'jab defence' was allowed to keep the note..

no, never :(

yusuf, how was the attacker allowed to hold the note? obviously not balled up and clenched inside the fist but also you don't want it to rip during the drill
amateur practices til gets right pro til can't get wrong
/ better approx answer to right q than exact answer to wrong q which can be made precise /

just folded lengthwise with a small bend at the end and held out of the font of the hand. (between the knuckle and main finger joint ..in between any two fingers you pick, put the bend through the adjacent finger gap and clench..no chance of ripping if folded properly.. ... it is a touch in flight then follow to extract vs not lose the note.. do not try and thump each other or go near the eyes...

hahaha thats awesome from a 'prove a point' basis and sounds like a good drill full stop! Guessing the rear hand was a focus mitt or something?

Cheers

The Channel Islands (Guernsey, Jersey) still have pound notes! Not legal tender here sadly...
