Looking for better bamboo swords...

Postby Eric_H on Tue May 19, 2009 6:41 pm

Hey All,

I'm looking for bamboo swords cut more in the style of a chinese broadsword than a katana, but all I can seem to find through google or amazon is kendo gear. Anyone seen any around or know of a supply store that sells 'em?

I can't help with a bamboo sword like that, but for good wooden swords try here:

I own a couple and they are very high quality and reasonably priced. The lady that makes them will customize and/or do your own designs as well. You can get them with the tips rounded for sparring and they are very sturdy.

Hope that helps a little,

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the link I'll have to give them a call and see if they can help me out.

The problem we've had in the past is that once wood swords like that get chipped the edge becomes serrated and it becomes too easy for it to cause injury. Maybe the shop has a solution for that.

Cool,

Let me know if they can help you out. I'm about to order some custom stuff from them (her, actually).

write to coldsteel and ask them to make some plastic models for you. They currently make plastic bokuto, escrima sticks, and European model hand and a half swords, so they may be open to it.
