For example, do you want explosiveness? Flexibility? A strong grip? Internal connection? What attributes and what body parts are most important for you to train?

physical attributes of our body is genetic or nature born.

we may improve some, but there are limits.

so everyone is different.

I practice Tong bei to be soft or flexible thruout body and strike with explosiveness.

I tend to be very stiff with the shoulder. so I chose to practice Tong Bei.

ultimately more interested in internal connection.
amateur practices til gets right pro til can't get wrong
/ better approx answer to right q than exact answer to wrong q which can be made precise /

You never hear people talk about periodization, but using that concept, you can develop a bit of everything over time. Learning about meso, macro, and micro cycles is a good thing.

but right now upper body strength(the front side of it (chest and abs) and upper arm strength (bi & triceps)

Much of what is widely thought to be genetic is more an outcome of usage habits than anything else. Finer details of movement and alignment, as well as physical appearance to an extent will vary from person to person, but in terms of function everyone can be strong, everyone can be flexible, everyone can move fast and hit hard and take hard hits. It's just a question of if the right means are available for an individual to learn it.
