Someone still think that KB is modern idea.

wang lao shi-

that is the "mok yee pai" or "mu er pai" (木耳牌ˊ) that has been used since Wong Yan Lum trained the style under Sing Lung back in the Ching Dynasty. I however, use kettlebells until i can get a pair of those made for myself.

( I know, just a form and not sanda or fighting)

I don't see any gongfu there at all.

Well SOME good things have come out of modern Wushu.

Wushu Taolu was developed from the 50s onwards - and yes, that is a lamentable development which we are still suffering from - but Wushu Sanda was developed from the 1980s.

AFAIK, this is the best empty hand fighting format that China has had since the turn of the 20th century. (I am willing to bet that when we see footage of the Nanjing tournament it will look dire, just as many of the HK and Taiwan tourneys from the 1970s do today.)

"Ah!" you cry, "But sanda is a mix of gongfu with kickboxing!" Er - yes, but....

Fair enough. You guys don't like it.

Like Andy_s says at least Sanda/sanshou has come out of China in recent years. I don't have a problem with modern wushu. It's just another aspect of CMA. As long as people and teachers are honest about what they do and teach, it's cool.

If you are interested here is a link to where that Hap Gar form came from before it was 'added to'. Short excerpt from the current keeper of Deng Family Hap Gar (my sifu's senior kung fu brother). I think the original shows what it should be like.

I love how this guy put's his videos in sepia tone so they look old or something. Is this the same "Hop Gar". Yeah. I keep playing them both back and forth. Same performance filmed from different angles. Listen carefully to the announcer and check for people in the crowd from both vids. lol.
