To reiterate, the best cardio for fighting is always anaerobic. Like deus made note of though, its definitely not an either or situation. the way to become good at relaxing under a stress response is repeated exposure to that stress. if you have the conditioning to prolong said stress, your body will have no choice but to adjust. its not really something that requires (much) focus, if done incrementally. the natural fear response just falls by the wayside... giving way to a healthy respect. this allows you to focus on what your opponent is doing, and what your body is doing as well.
on that note, rolling with fresh opponents is a good way to up the stress levels. it's inherently fighting from a position of disadvantage, and should lead to exploring your own recovery methods. maybe griffin was on to something in this light, as well.
