Was Sun Lu-Tang's book on Bagua ever published?

Hey guys -- so I've been looking around the internet and amazon, and it seems like Cartmell has a translation of Sun's Taiji writings, but not Xingyi or Bagua.

Does anyone know if there is a copy available in English? If so, can you point me in the right way?

Sun's bagua and xingyi books are both good, my friend has been telling me to buy them; he has been fine-tuning his palms based on the photos in Sun's book.

I've got a copy of his xing yi book - love it. He talks about energies in the posture very openly. If you read it as 'connection' rather than 'flow of qi' it will give you lots of work to practise on in your xing yi postures.

That's what I find interesting about Sun Lu-Tang; he talks about Qi and energy so openly, but was an incredible fighter. Like you mentioned, if you read it as connection it makes sense. Do you think perhaps that's what he originally meant?

It may be of interest - later this year Line of Intent Publishing will be releasing The Fundamental Practices of Baguazhang by a Bagua master in China who practices Sun Lu Tang's Bagua system, and who is fluent also in English.

The book will include his translations of Sun's material with commentaries on how to decipher what on earth the old master was talking about - Sun uses fairly esoteric language much of the time and yet, as Meeks aludes to above, it really is a highly useful and practical guidebook for those walking the circle. I asked to print this book in the west as it is probably the most explicit 'how to' manual i have ever seen on the art, and the writer someone who can hands down use his stuff against real world violence.

In that regard, fighters with a connection to Sun Lutang seem to have done well at the 1929 Hangzhou lei tai:

Yeah, I noticed that too. Beyond theory and conceptual understanding, the words and concepts need to be put into action. Sun Lu-Tang's writings are very cryptic and bizarre in some translations, but whatever the case he was obviously good at implementing them in combat. And, like you mentioned, about 2-3 people associated with him placed in the top 10.
