Injuries are another issue altogether. With knees, you don't mess around (I know because I have a chronically bad one) -- there are so many ways we can permanently screw them up. Sometimes even when you think you are concentrating on training and not the pain or injury, on an unconscious level your body really is "choking up" and you're not putting 100% into your intent and focus. That would also affect your training.

So go easy on that knee!

Me too! For some reason whenever I meet people to train outside class, they always seem to be bigger, stronger and more experienced than me. Learn much more than way. Good for the ego, too. Maybe one of these days I should train with someone smaller and weaker so I can lay the smackdown and feel like superman ;)

I'd rather train with people who have more skill than I have. If I only work with peers or people with less skill, there's no impetus to break me down and build me up to the next level.
