Anything taught to a mass market is by definition 'watered down' - take tai chi, 'karate in the mall' or whatever. That's how you make money. And that gives plenty of people exactly what they want - nothing wrong with that.

I don't think the people who associate themselves with famous names are all naive, and hoping for inner-gate secrets. I think they regard the association as beneficial to their "credibility", should they one day seek to become a famous name themselves...and I think they are correct.
