stick disarms

I'm sure this is nothing new, just a random thought after watching some awful blunt weapon disarms:

why don't people use wiffle bats / kendo shinais / hollow plastic cricket bats etc. to avoid the fake as hell, over-extended, pausing in mid-air type strikes where the attacker just gives the teacher his weapon? you'd think it'd be common sense...

you don't (normally) train with a live blade so why would you train with a real tire iron or baseball bat?

...baseball bat covered in foam pipe insulation is a really easy and cheap training tool...

because wiffle bats belong in the bedroom - right next to the french ticklers and kendo shinai...
