Andy..

saved up and my teacher got me a discount :) ... i figured this blade was going to be used every day for how ever many years my liver holds out... also i wanted the same jian for training and cutting practice, so as to really understand one weapon fully.. plus the last sword i cut something with (1000$ paul chen) ended up with a piece sticking out of the floor.. so the extra money was so worth it..

peace

yusuf

methods - agree - a little heavy.. but my teacher has a bunch of the latest ones and i think the smith has cracked it :)

Yusuf:

Would be interested in hearing more about your jian training. My experience with it is really just forms - no application and no test cutting. Most people would be perfectly satisfied with the above - after all, we live in the era of assault rifles and cluster bombs - but as a chap with a bit of a D'Artagnan streak in him, I do have a bit of an interest in cut 'n thrust.

;D I just don't see myself buying a 2-7K jian. My normative perspective just would not allow me to make such a purchase. I believe that any weapon will do if you you will do.

I posted a pic of a handmade ginunting used by the Philippine Force Recon Marines that was made by a Filipino smith. It's not custom made. I paid $100 for it.

Bottom sword is new custom ginunting that we've been working on.
