Hi Everyone!

I'm Dave, I have been practicing martial arts just shy of twenty years. I played around with Japanese and Korean martial arts before finding my home in Long Fist and Tai Chi. I am excited to learn from all of you and contribute in whatever way I can!

Hullo;

Rocky here, resident of San Diego, California.

I often stand in San Ti, make up a linking fist form, do splitting fist completely differently than I'm supposed to,
walk around in a circle pretending to be a panda/buffalo/dragon alternately,
and wave my arms around pretending to throw people;
and I have the nerve to call it Tegoi.
In other words, I read too many books and now I'm making up my own ridiculous forms/exercises, trying to acquire the basics of everything at the same time.
Loving it.

Hoping to find some folks to study with around here, 'cuz lawd knows I'm deluded and need help.

Hello,
Currently in Humboldt County, California.
Been learning (practicing, training, pursuing...) Yang style Tai Chi Chuan for roughly 5 years now. Gongfu as well. Been in martial arts off and on since I was little. Play music, do all sorts of things.
I suppose that's probably enough said.

Hello fellow martial artists

My name is Troy. I am mostly a reader of posts. I practice several different arts. I started off in 1994 with a standard American karate that I can best describe as a cross between TKD and Kenpo. I currently study and train Xingyiquan and Baguazhang with Tim Cartmell, which I have been doing off and on since 2005. Yang Taiji with different people of the Dong family and teachers. I also do Jeet Kune Do, first under one of Paul Vunak's instructors, and then under Ed Monaghan, an instructor under Jerry Poteet, and now I train every once in a while with some of Tim Tackett's guys. I also do BJJ with Tim Cartmell as well.

In addition to that I'm just about to finish chiropractic school in April 2015, which I'm happy to be done with school. I have a C.S.C.S (certified strength and conditioning specialist) under the N.S.C.A (National Strength and Conditioning Association) and an avid kettlebell, powerlifting, and body weight practitioner.

Thanks for letting me join in!

Hi,

Long time lurker here. Thought I should introduce myself.

Judo at age 11, to no great success.

Nothing for the rest of my school years apart from reading some books about Tai Chi and practising on my own at home.

Wudang Tai Chi under Dan Docherty in Stockwell, early 90s for a couple of years.

Northern Shaolin (Buddha Hand) with Tony Felix early to mid-90s for a couple of years. This was when Tony was transitioning away from traditional Chinese arts and exploring other styles/cultures such as African arts, Silat etc., so the classes had a varied brief and were constantly fascinating. One of the best teachers I have had.

Then a few (ten) years drifting away from regular practise. Visited a few different classes briefly, including Mushindo Kempo, Wing Chun, and BJJ.

The last couple of years I was lucky enough to find middleway's internals class, which was excellent, and one of the first times since training with Tony Felix that I felt truly inspired again. I also started training some Muay Thai around that time.

Recently moved away from middleway's patch, and am now training Systema with Robp2, which has continued my lucky streak of finding good quality classes with inspiring teachers.

I'm also revisiting my old Judo skills when I can.

When I look at it now, a bit all over the place, but I think my roots are Tai Chi and TCMA.

Cheers!

Hello,

I registered a few months ago, and waited for the confirmation that I had been accepted in the forums, but never received it. I didn't try to login until today. :)
I am interested in internal martial arts, mainly Hebei Xingyiquan and Chen style Taijiquan.
Thanks!

I don't think I ever posted here. Been around a little while, way back to the EF days. I just don't post a whole lot. ;D

aikido since 1990.
hapkido for a year in 1984-85.
kali for a couple years around 2007-ish.
koryu.
IP/aiki for about 8 years, training with bodywork.

Looking forward to maybe trying BJJ, some more kali, more aikido, maybe a Chinese art, and keeping up with IP/aiki. I'd try the Octagon, but I don't want to make Chuck Norris cry. 8-) (That's a joke in case you missed it ;D )

That's the highlights of my martial career. On a personal note, I've worked in the IT field for over 20 years. Mosty in the areas of network/server/security. I stayed away from DBA/programming/webdev because those people are weird. ;D J/K. And I'm a writer. Yeah, shameless plug. You can find me here: http://www.markmurraybooks.com

Hi Aaron,

Cultivate that feeling and be able to call it to mind at any time. It is enormously freeing.

Welcome aboard.
I define internal martial art as unusual muscle recruitment and leave it at that. If my definition is incomplete, at least it is correct so far as it goes.

Hi I'm Alex from Sydney Australia. Used to post as Alexg, however for some reason that ID was inactivated when I tried to change my email address recently.

Primarily a Xinyi guy which I have been practicing for years, however also studied Hsing I for a few years when younger.

Relatively recently I started studying Yang Taiji for health. To be honest Taiji continues to baffle me, however I feel as though it helps by Xinyi.

Hoping to be an active contributor to this forum.

Cheers

Hey there,

I'm Damian - currently living in the Northwest of England and here to learn, entertain myself and while an hour or two while at work (mostly the latter, if I'm honest).

I have trained Lau Gar (though not for a very long time). Currently training Baguazhang.
