Philly ima teachers

Postby bruce on Thu Sep 13, 2012 9:26 am

Hi ya'all,

I have a buddy in Philly looking for a martial arts teacher. Do you have any names you can send me. Any sort of ima would be good for him. He has no martial arts back ground and wants health and self defense... Any leads would be cool. Thanks.

Best,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

I'm not familiar with many people in Philadelphia, but I do know Sara Gellhorn, who teaches in Malvern. Malvern is maybe 40 minutes from Philly.

She is a student of my instructor(among others), and she teaches one to two classes a week at our school in Harrisburg.

I don't have the background or knowledge of most posters here, but I can say that in the few years I've been at the school, I've gotten a lot out of working with Sara.

Regards,
Kevin

http://baztaichi.com/ (Sifu Jon Chen- Yang style Taiji + Wutan Baji)

I know that there was a Chen Taiji class being held at Sifu Pete Pajil's Wing Chun school in Philly Chinatown, but I don't know what is going on now.

Philly's kung fu scene is more Southern in nature- Hung Gar (Yee's Hung Ga, and Cheung Shu Pui), Southern Mantis, Wing Chun...

Nice guy...I think you're referring to Master Phuoc Phan and That Son Than Quyen.

Check it out if you would like...I did, and it wasn't my cup of tea

I recommend Johnny's classes. I've only been a couple times, each very far apart, good experiences. I hope to make time to go on a regular basis soon.
