A friend of mine and his two adult sons are looking for recommendations for martial arts training in Bradenton,FL.

They all previously attained brown belt level in karate some years ago, have relocated and want to get back to training again.

Well, as always, depends on what they are looking for and also what is available.

I used to live in Bradenton and currently live about an 1 1/2 hours south. There really is not a lot in that area as far as I know. Of course the obligatory TKD school or two, with the usual expectations that go with that. Not sure about grappling or bjj, prolly someone teaching something halfway decent there for that.

There is also a satellite school teaching some kung fu and tai chi that is not bad. It's run fairly commercially though, didn't care for their tai chi, but it wasn't BAD. The kung fu looked pretty typical shaolinish:

There used to be an aikido school in Sarasota which is the next town over. I checked them out once and they look like typical aikido. A lot of flopping on the floor. :)

There was a guy I knew who taught Chen style but he is long gone so I really don't know anyone. Maybe the Shaolin guy but I'm sure it will be costly, they also seemed to hand out the info peacemeal.

Lemme know if I can help out.

@Haoran: I am in the Fort Myers area. A couple hours away from you I believe.

Nick Scrima is in the Clearwater area of Tampa/Saint Petersburg. Depending on where your friend is in Bradenton, that's a 1.5-2 hour drive. I have met Mr. Scrima, nice guy, and decent skill. Pretty pricey school tuition.
