I practiced with Ma laoshi back in 2008 in Beijing. Regardless of your level of Baguazhang or other arts, you won't get any instructions other than circle walking for a long time.

I met Ma Chuan Xu because he is the elder martial brother of my teacher Li Gongcheng. I had already practiced Liang style bagua for years but I felt I wanted to get more insight of Ma's skills. The training is tough, we used to gather in a park at 5-5.30am everyday and practice circle walking for about 2 hours. After that we would do some basics and maybe some tuishou or Ma would show some parts of a taolu to his disciple. When I first met Ma laoshi, he asked me to show him some basic taolu and the way I walked the circle. He then told me that if I wanted to practice/learn from him, he would only teach/correct the circle walking and the basics.
Good luck

Actually it was complicated to practice with Ma laoshi. Since I was Li Gongcheng tudi, I had to ask him if I could visit uncle Ma but, their relationship was not so good back then and I had to find a way. I ask Li laoshi if I could go to practice with Ma's student a Frenchman and friend of mine and that is how I was able to start practicing with Ma Chuanxu. He was 77 years old when I started with him and he could still move very quickly and smoothly.
I was lucky
