Chris Heintzman Just opened his new place in Fayetteville, NC.

www.whitelionkungfu.com

Chris has done quite well using traditional kung fu in tournaments and mma matches.

He is the heir apparent to Grandmaster David Chin.

If you want to learn how to fight using traditional kung fu then this is the gentleman to study with.

Tibetan Lama, my intro to TCMA, my teacher would say "you hit something you break something", a devastating style, immediately applicable in real world situations , always got me disqualified for excessive contact in tournaments though, hey I was a kid , so what. Good stuff
The point . is absolute

that hop gar is wild. I don't know much about hung gar and tongbei but it looks like tongbei-hung gar lol. I guess that would happen when the style is inspired by ape and crane. Can anyone speak on this?

What is reasonable resistance to you? How about judo or bjj?

Those schools are much easier to find and yeah i may end up that route. I don't know how to decide between those things.

My goal right now is to have better conditioning and get my bearings just standing in a fight. Is there free spar in judo/bjj? I don't know much about them. The problem is im interested in (internal)kung fu so i'd like to develop in that way. It just seems there's not many people with a method. Where's the kung fu with padwork and sparring, drilling application under pressure?

It may end up being some sort of MMA in the end atleast to learn how to train for fighting and get some sort of ability. Thanks for any suggestions

I'm sure it's out there but hard to find. Most of the places don't have the pressure you're probably talking about. Judo is a nice balance because it has mainly standing throwing plus grappling and some groundwork. No striking but your reflexes for guarding "upper gate" "outside door" "front door" etc., do get some development during gripfighting. No kicking but there is low sweeping, reaping, etc. The sparring is called randori - sort of light throwing sparring work. Good workout and fun. Many of the students study or have studied other arts including various kung fu styles. If you're near the Triangle try Bushido Judo or Carolina Judo. There is Team ROC for Brazilian jiu jitsu. Otherwise Fayetteville and Charlotte have some places. For the grappling styles you can drill under near-full to full pressure and speed relatively safely and limit it in good ways (such as guard passing only) for beginners while still having good pressure. Definitely recommend you shop around.
