Fundamentals of throws, entries into throws
Tim will teach several categories of throws, and the biomechanical principles that allow you to perform the throws with minimal effort. There will be step by-step instruction and drills that lead to entering in a combat situation and performing the throw.

Clinch Fighting, and Entries against a Boxer
Many street fights involve a clinch or boxing face off. Every combat sport has their version of the clinch and understanding clinch fighting can be key to dominating your opponent. The clinch instruction will include
• Arm and body positions
• How to strike in the clinch
• Attaining superior position and maintaining it
• Clinch strategy
• How to escape a clinch

Boxing-type strikes, such as straight punches and hooks, are fundamental mid-range tools in street fighting. Grapplers often struggle in closing the gap on a boxer when trying to apply their throwing techniques. Instruction will include strategies and drills on how to close the gap and throw against a boxing opponent.

Note on not taking falls at the seminar:
If you are uncomfortable taking falls, you can perform the material at the seminar up to the point of "fitting in." That is a common practice at seminars that include throwing and at least several people are planning to attend and learn the material in that way.


ABOUT TIM CARTMELL
Tim Cartmell is one of the most sought after martial arts instructors in North America. He has over 30 years experience in martial arts such as San Soo, Xing Yi, Bagua, Taiji, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. After spending over 10 years in Asia studying various martial arts and fighting full contact matches, Tim returned to the US to teach as well as study ground fighting under Cleber Luciano. Eight years later he become Cleber's first black belt, and has won numerous grappling tournaments including winning the Copa seven times, as well as taking silver in the 2005 Mundials (World Championships) in Brazil, and has twice won the gold at the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Pan American Games. His latest projects include a series of DVD’s on Stand up Grappling and Ground Proofing. Tim teaches fulltime in Huntington Beach CA. where he has combined the stand-up fighting of Xing Yi, Bagua, and Taiji with the ground work of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to create his Shen Wu curriculum.
