Shanghai is a great town. I was there in January. Try Jarek from Chinafrominside.com. We talked while I was there but scheduling prevented us from meeting up. He knows just about everyone there!

Jarek has always worked extremely hard to promote authentic traditional CMA

From what I've seen here and on his own website, he's very open to anyone sincerely interested in CMA, and like TB said, he seems to know damn near everyone in or around Shanghai, and the rest of China for that matter.

If you're going to be there for 2 weeks, do yourself a favor, take a day trip to Hangzhou. It's an hour away by train if you leave from the South Station. It's a great little city. Wesat Lake, Yue Fei's tomb, and a huge TCM market. Also, SuZho and ZhoZhang. They are these amazing little canal towns, like venice. I spent a week in Shanghai in January. PM me if you feel like it.

Meet Shen Tiegen, his knowledge of taiji is nothing less than sublime.

For equipment go to Decathalon.

They have gloves, heavy bags, weights, mitts, mouth pieces and so forth. For stuff like swords and so forth I hear there's a place somewhere by the Shanghai Stadium. You could ask DPG.

Reviving this guy. Anyone still interested in buying some training equipment in Shanghai hit me up. I have a buddy who has a pretty good connect.

Disagree on that one, west lake really didn't do anything for me and with so much to do and see in Shanghai 2 weeks won't even scratch the surface. If you're in the north of the city HongKou Park is a great place to wonder around early in the morning, lots of stuff going on.
