you beat me too it.

are you going then? need a room?

Here the deal- i got accident prone on July 4th by deciding to jump in a moon bounce at this raging party. I was showing off front flips and back flips to my gymnast instructor / muaythai fighter friend whom i'm competitive with.... we both did wushu at one time. I got confident and decided to do a back flip wushu kick which gravity won. It killed my neck, so i have to get an MRI and X-rays because its pretty painful. i am still registered for the Lei tai event, but my doctor is not going to clear me with this injury. i've stopped all fight training and just doing Taijiquan until further diagnosis. each year its always something..I can still do forms and weapons perhaps.

Damn! Sorry to hear that. I hope all ends up being okay. You're lucky you didn't end up paralyzed with that kind of an accident. :P
Get well soon man. And I would highly reccommend trying some of Dale Dugas' "Tiger Exits The Forest" injury dit da jow, it's done wonders for my back, shoulder and knee...

No kidding! That shit will mess you up. Stick with something safe, like full-contact fighting.... :)

I'll be ok- i have a Sanda fight opportunity in Fall.

As for Wushu- you goofs are practicing wushu- wushu is chinese for 'war arts' it encompasses traditional Chinese martial arts and kung fu, San shou/sanda, internal arts like hsingyi and pakuachang and yes- that new modernly gay-looking longfist and tai chi gymnastics forms they are doing now. I will have to say- wushu training is bitter and involves a whole lot of stamina and endurance to be able to perform the Longfist forms and weapons. a great deal of time is spent on physical conditioning and flexibility and its very hard work most are not willing to do. Its made me much more flexible than the guys at the MMA school.

I think i got more injuries from wushu training than i did full contact fighting.

Sounds like a good reason not to do wushu. ;D

wushu- i did long fist (chang chuan) when i was much younger, traditional Cha quan and the modern compulsory forms. i couldnt do the newer stuff to save my life- its way to acrobatic for my ability.

In all likelihood I will only be there on Friday night - if anyone is interested in meeting up and chatting (and maybe heading down to Fells Point) let me know.

Thanks Pete! Unfortunately I believe Joe will be unable to make due to other responsibilities. Neijia_boxer will be there though in a supporting role, even though he'll be unable to fight. I'll be flying out tomorrow evening and arriving Friday morning.

I'll try to find you there Dr. Fish. It would be great to meet you.
