Sun Style Ba Gua sessions

You do not need to have attended prior Ba Gua Zhang seminars to attend these sessions
The Ba Gua Dragon form is a variation of the single Palm Change that involves walking the circle in an extended posture, designed to increase the strength and stamina of the arms, shoulders and upper back while establishing a connection from the hands to the hips during horizontal rotation. Technically, the Dragon includes techniques that simultaneously attack an opponent's leg and upper body, creating various throws through the power of "splitting" in a horizontal rotation.

The Ba Gua Bear form is a variation of the Double Palm Change that involves bringing spiral energy from the center outwards while spinning on one leg. Technically, the Bear techniques include simultaneous control of an opponent's head and leg ending in spiral takedowns as well as hand maneuvers for close quarters grappling.

Ba Gua Two-person drills
This session will cover partner practice circle walking entries. The drills teach the student how to correctly enter in to attack an opponent while maintaining constant motion, and how to follow up and strike or throw the opponent with no gap in movement using the connection and combined momentum of oneself and the opponent against him.

Ba Gua Rou Shou
Rou Shou is a practical method of paired awareness training that develops sensitivity, timing, balance and appropriate use of power in relation to the unpredictable and ever-changing forces of an opponent in the context of deflecting threatening force while seeking to enter into superior positions at the moment of connection in a fight. The Rou Shou training system is beneficial for practitioners of any style of martial arts as it's fundamental patterns closely mimic the actual connection of forces most often encountered in real life fighting scenarios.

Traditional Sun Style Taijiquan
Sun style Taijiquan is the newest of the five major branches of Taijiquan. Sun Lutang, founder of the style, was one of the most famous martial artists of his time. His lifelong practice of the Internal, or Soft styles of martial art, including Taijiquan, Xingyiquan and Baguazhang, resulted in the unique combination of the best of these styles into the present day Sun style of Taijiquan. When practiced as originally designed, Sun style Taijiquan provides a profound study into correct methods of postural alignment, unified body use and coordinated movement, as well as a coherent method of building the health while uniting the body and mind. Tim Cartmell studied Sun style martial arts in Beijing with Sun Jianyun, daughter of the founder and Sun Baoan, grandson of the founder.
