Free No-Gi session Gloucester

Postby middleway on Fri Oct 09, 2015 5:20 am

hi all,

I am putting on a free seminar applying IMA concepts to the no-gi grappling environment. Going to have a few MMA and BJJ guys in there so thought i would offer it out here too. All are welcome just PM me.

1st November. 10 - 10.30am though to about 2 or 3

Applying alignment, pairing, connection, relaxation and other internal concepts to no-gi grappling.

We will be covering the application of these concepts to:

Hand fighting
Clinch
Throws and take downs
Anti-throw & takedowns
Movement concept drills
Maintaining Control on the ground.
Solo development training.

Participants should be comfortable with Break Falls.

thanks

Thanks Chaps,

Already presenting this work in the MMA sphere with a couple of guys beginning to really utilize it.

The fun thing for me with this crowd is i never have to explain who i trained with, where it came from, who invented it, what tradition .. lineage ... etc etc. The questions are 'does it work? Can it give me an advantage? Can he do what he says?'

And they REALLY test me out. It has to work or i look like an idiot! Far from being the world of meat heads, more and more I am finding the combat sports arena filled with people truly willing to learn and it is like a breath of fresh air!

Anyways, I really hope some IMA people can make it along, Free doesn't mean 'lacking value', and I am sure it will be a fun day of honest training regardless. :D

Chris.

NOTE: i will be sure to film some 'before n after exchanges' so progress over a single session can be seen. It can be fairly dramatic.

Oh poo. I'm in Manchester on the 1st doing some floatation tank experience thing with my girlfriend, otherwise I would have tried to have made it down. Haven't done much formal training in BJJ type stuff just a couple of open classes here and there so would have been interesting. Let us know if you have any other upcoming workshops Chris.

I would like to check it out too but my back is in tatters at the moment which kind of rules me out of most things. Floatation tank sounds appealing though :p

Hi all,

I may be having to move this out to the 15th of Nov due to a conflict (time wise ... not fight wise) at the gym.

might be better for some here too!

thanks.

hey all,

This is on this Sunday. Looks like a good group too. Everyone is welcome of course, will be chance to free grapple with participants after initial training to test the work. Basic outline of what we will be covering:

Solo and partner connection and movement drills.
Maintenance of posture in contact
hiding and taking the centre.
Throws and take downs for no gi
Anti throw work.
Utilizing 'splitting' and pairing.
Sparring games.
free roll / spar

Whether we get through all that or not i dont know ... but hopefully we will cover some of it.

Most of the guys coming wont have a clue what any of that is or where it comes from so will be a lot of honest reactions in the room. I am going to try to get some footage of me working with the huge boys (couple of 100kg plus mma/ wrestling guys). Will see how it all pans out though. :D

thanks
Chris
