Thanks for the heads up on that!!

"So, we'll be hungover for the Saturday seminar instead?"

Clearly you've never been to one of OUR seminars. And Fong-Toronado? Please drink one for me. I haven't been there since I went with Issac.

sorry for being a noob and asking this question...but for those who've been to luo's workshops before, I want to go to the gao bagua weekend and I'm just curious what your experience is with what he covers. I dont have much bagua experience but i know Lue de xiu is awsome from what i'v seen on youtube and what i hear. Im mainly a yang stylist and i liq chuan guy...any insight would help thanks.

The couple I've been to have generally started with some bit of classical bagua and then moved into different drills and applications to get the feel of whatever it is that he's expounding on.

He's a great teacher and he's not shy about letting you feel how something works. Come on down. You'll for sure get something good out of it.

If you can make it to Luo Laoshi's Ba Gua weekend you will learn a tremendous amount. You will learn a number of complete forms, tons of fighting applications and a deep appreciation for Ba Gua fighting theory and mentality. I think it's fair to say you'll know more after one weekend with him than many people who work at this stuff for years.

The reason for that is because he teaches intensively at the weekend events and packs a LOT of training and teaching into it. For another he makes a point of demonstrating principles, strategies, techniques and movements repeatedly, and hitting each person so they can feel the power unique to each move. He cuts to the chase, makes it easy to understand. It's really about how well you can move and control your body and mind. He shows you how, and you can do the work on your own time.

If you want to know what Ba Gua is all about, you will know that after this weekend, I have no doubt about that. Experiencing him in action is inspiring to a huge degree. He embodies all of the things like effortless, instantaneous, spontaneous, internal power, etc that you see in the books, but rarely see in real life. Regardless of your specific style, working with him is eye opening in terms of what Internal Martial Arts is supposed to be.

Sincerely,

Jess O

Had agreat day at the first day of the bagua weekend.

I learned a lot about the basic theory of bagua changing hands. Also, Luo's explanation of how to apply your sensitivity to the inital contact with the opponent really helped my ting jin.

The description of why Gao style is reffered to as having "lighting hands" and how that's employed was pretty eye opening as well.

Everything going according to plan. You always leave one of Luo's seminars a better martial artist than you walked in.

Also finally got to meet Fuga. Thanks for helping to shuttle me about, brotha.

Tastydurian bloodied my nose. He's a bully.

:)

S- just about off to the kicking class.

As to the kicking day.

I'll just say it was hard and hard on the ole body and leave it at that. Lots of dirty fighting though.

Looking forward to the throwing on tuesday, but also looking forward to relaxing a lot today.

Best,
