I'm not at all familiar with the teachers featured and I don't know much about Niujie tongbei either -- it's similar but also fairly different from what I studied. As with most of the CCTV docs they focus a lot on fantastic origin myths and sensational stories about masters performing incredible feats, but I am very happy to see this style get such exposure, as it is generally one of the more conservative and obscure Chinese styles. I like how they discuss BYTBQ roots in Beijing and the connection of this lineage to the local Muslim community, they also show some of the traditional TBQ training methods like bag striking and post training, as well as the influence of shuaijiao in BYTBQ.
