Dude, that's beautiful. Thanks for sharing. It's funny, what is normal with a kid takes an adult years to achieve.

Should adult beginners be taught the same way as children? Emphasis on fun, and given a few basic principles to adhere to...hmm

Awesome man. 8-)

The age difference between mine is a bit too big for something like this (4.5 years), so I'm waiting until the 4-year-old grows up a little, and I'm gonna get them to do similar type of work I mean, play. :)

I think there should be a balance between work and play for adults, definitely.

these two are the same age. only the girl belongs to me, the boy in the blue shirt belongs to my friend and training brother. my oldest boy only makes a brief appearance (in the green shirt).

this was actually spontaneous by the kids. they were "fighting" over a bag of snacks when my daughter shouts "sticky hand" and then the rest ensued...

That made me laugh out loud. It's like in animal house when he yells food fight.

The more I think about it, the less I'm interested in pushing MA on my kid. He likes to wrestle and all that, and I've given him some hints about feeling for my balance and he loves that, but I don't want him to ever have to be in a real fight if he doesn't have to be, and I certainly don't want him to feel like he'll be able to just go and throw down (although he is a little boy...hard to take the agressive little monkey out of them :) ) and that that's ok...different world nowadays.

If he digs it, I'll show him what I know and lead him in the right direction but I'm not so sure about forcing it on him.

Me too. There are plenty of useful things to do with your life. Martial arts is just one them.

no one's forcing anything on these kids. they've only been shown a few things after they've specifically asked to be shown.

i won't let my kids "specialize" before they're 16 or 17, and that's if they want to pursue it.

for every tiger woods there's 5000 kids who hate their father.

Yeah, understood. I was just agreeing with what Shaun said, not criticising you :)

I'm secretly hoping my boy wants to learn the arts from me - he's already got the Pi Chuan from hell that he regularly bashes me with - ouch! Think I'd rather start him off with something wrestling-based, like Judo (so I can go along and take the class too, thus getting wife-approval for spending time with my son while also doing martial arts - double bonus!) - teaching kids to strike always seems like a bad idea to me.

Word that. I'm hoping to do that here if he ever decides to.
