I have never heard before that the classics say the spine must be vertical to the earth, is that true?

Nahhh ... i was taking the piss out the taicheeers that insist that straight spine means vertical spine ... :D

:D

Does anyone know who the other guy was? Seems a lot bigger than CB. Was he also trying to throw CB?

I think the big was trying to throw Chen Bing too. Especially around 0:16-0:20. It looks like he was trying to do some stuff to Chen but just got stuffed. The big guy does probably has about 60-80 lbs on Chen Bing and is probably very strong. But I don't think he was a very experienced wrestler (I could be wrong though). I do wanna know about the guy's background. But in any case, that video was awesome.

Hi all,
I see most are enjoying the clip. For those asking about the background of the attacker. He is my student for the past 6 years in Chen Taiji and has an extensive background prior to Taiji. He was 1st place winner in the PA wrestling championships for 2 years in a row and took 2nd in Nationals. He also won the PA sambo comp. One of his main wrestling teachers was Olympic Gold winner Dave Schultz (RIP). Since training with me, he has worked as an Imminent threat specialist and bodyguard for many notable people, including: Lennox Lewis, Chris Tucker, Sean (Diddy) Combs, Saudi Royal Family. Mike also has about 80 pounds on Chen, Bing.

During the workshop we had a couple pro MMA fighters join in training. BY day 2, two of the guys didn't show because we trained too hard for them, They said they could not walk from the soreness in the legs. One of the others started as a non-believer and by the end of the day was amazed that Taiji was so applicable. Chen, Bing spent 2 days covering conditioning and applications. Basically he showed how the Chen guys prepare for competition and condition themselves.

Thanks for the background info! Certainly adds to the already-impressive look of the guys' skill. 8-)

It's really great to see that the "martial side" of taiji is not being completely buried under the mountains of general incompetence and disinterest, and the very strong overall trend towards wushu/competition type of "taiji training..."

Not to take anything away from Chen Bing - he's got some great timing, but his helper was not pummeling to take advantage of the underhook, let alone trying to throw or take him down.

Thanks for the background info as stated before it makes the clip all the more impressive.

This has to be one of my fav clips of taiji apps out there. Is there any more footage? Chen bing is defp someone i would like to learn from if i did Chen taiji.

Is he the attacker in this clip?

Which leads to my second question: are you tigerlick? :-)
I.
