Warrior spirit of Taiwan's TKD warrior

This is Su Li-wen -- a Taiwan TKD fighter that almost won the bronze on Friday night. She was badly hurt and fought her last two matches in agony. This clip shows the final match for the bronze. She can barely stand but she still fought. I couldn't believe that she just kept getting up. Nothing was going to keep her down. She even kicked her opponent with her injured leg. She lost in sudden death overtime. Her coach carried her off the stage.

Taiwan was pretty demoralized during these games. The baseball team was especially disappointing. But Su Li-wen made us all proud, even without a medal.

God bless her.
Time to put the QUAN back in taijiQUAN. Time to put the YANG back in YANG style taiji.

Yes. She was the only possible gold medal from Taiwan.

However, she ended with 5th place.

Well, she is worth more than gold.

--

so much pain to bear.

She fell, and stood up again and again. using the good right leg to stand and kicking away the left leg with an injured knee.

--

sportsmanship--

and kept her promise to her father with a cancer that she would do "all" she could for a medal for him.

--

much respect.

Sad - she deserved the medal, but on the day...

I agree that sport TKD is lame - as a spectator sport. There again, you could say the same for many an Olympic event: Rowing, synch swimming, dressage, etc, etc.

As a participation sport, however, it is extremely demanding.
