In my 40s and I don't lift weights and still don't really feel the need to - I find Chi Kung / Taoist yoga / tai chi type stuff keeps my joints healthy and people continually comment that I'm "strong" - I think internal arts are just the perfect compliment to Bjj. Although if I ever get to the point where I think my strength is fading I'll probably look at weights but right now I don't feel like I need it.

My tip for those in their 30s and not yet their 40s: Stop complaining. You got it good.

Note: Anyone in their 50s training jiu jitsu can tell me where to put it. ;)

You mean it wasn't "AMAZING?"

Thanks for the link, it was an interesting read from a younger mans perspective. If thats what it like to be old and train though, then I guess I feel old already. Having studied externals for the first 19 years of my MA training and at that pointing switching over to more "internal" training, I feel similar (to the articles author) any time I roll with someone of reasonable skill who's intent is to win. Even when I'm able to match their intensity, I feel like whats the point? Personally, I'm happy to make an "investment in loss". Although I suppose I'm not feeling old so much as lazy (lol maybe thats what being older can feel like though ?), I just don't like being tense in the slightest anymore, and I'm not yet at a level where I can overpower just anyone with my relaxedness. So when people try really hard, I just stay safe and wait for them to fuck up, works for me more often than not.

I'm worried about Dennis - always going to sleep like that isn't good. I think it's brain damage from his MMA fights.. :-\
